Hey there,
My name’s Joël. I am based in Brussels, a city which is big on arts, food and beers, with a comfortably cosmopolitan atmosphere.I live two parallel lives, one  in the legal department of a big company where I work by day, and one in the evening, playing around with my pencils or my Gpen, creating imaginary worlds and cityscapes. When I lack ideas, I drive my car leisurely around the streets until some inspiration comes up.

I love watching film noir or classic movies and I like Science fiction in graphic art. My own projects : a generation spaceship, many retrofuturistic cityscapes and some robots.

Here is an always changing list of stuff I like :

– My favorite filmmakers are David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick, David Cronenberg,  John Woo, James Carpenter, Tim Burton, Hayao Miyazaki to name but a few.
– Movies or animated series I like include: Lost highway, Ghost in the shell, Existenz, Aeon Flux (the animated TV series by Peter Chung,
not the film…), Infernal affairs, Naked lunch, Ghost Dog: the Way of the Samurai..
– My top Manga artists or Anime creators are Range Murata,Tetsuo Hara,Hiromu Arakawa, Katsuhiro Otomo, Masamune Shirow,Hiroki
Mafuyu and koji morimoto.
– Golden Age Sci-fi authors I revisited recently : Robert Heinlein, Jack Vance, Isaac Asimov, Philip José Farmer, Frederik Pohl, Cyril Kornbluth, Fredric Brown, Robert Bloch, Albert Teichner.

If I could get any 7 people together (from any period in history) for a cosy picnic, I would invite Lewis Carroll, C.S. Lewis, Scheherazade, H.P.
Lovecraft,  Jorge Luis Borges, Jacques Bergier and Stephen King.

I’ve posted some of my graphic works on this blog. Just for relaxation, I am also posting a dark comedy serial called “the steampunk detective” : this is a film noir-grungy retrofuturistic story involving a Raymond Chandler wisecracking detective; certainly not to be taken too seriously.
